Before suspension forks, carbon frames, and 12-speed drivetrains, mountain biking was simple, raw, and build on pure adventure. The 1987 Fisher Montare helped define that era. This BiKoPia restomod brings it back with a throwback customer paint job, modern wheels, and a single speed drivetrain.
This bike is rideable art that is reborn, refined, and re-imagined.
Why This Bike Matters
Gary Fisher's early bikes defined the birth of mountain biking. The Montare was among the first mass produced mountain bikes made in Asia and imported into the USA. It is truly a ridable art that has a special place in mountain biking history.
This Fisher Montare was rusty and semi-dysfunctional when it was purchased by Paul, the Founder of BiKoPia. Paul made the painstaking decision to sand off the original paint job in order to remove the rust and breathe new life into this steel beast of a bike. The drivetrain was overhauled, and the cracked original wheels and mismatching tires were replaced with new modern wheels and tan wall tires.
Every upgrade honors the original spirit of the bike. It has been preserved, refreshed, and transformed into a single speed, modern-urban-meets-retro-trail machine.

Restromod Highlights
Custom BiKoPia paint job: The Montare was originally red. The red Montare was the basic Montare model. However, there was a top-of-the-line blue-to-white fade version of the Montare. That blue-to-white fade inspired the red-to-white fade of this restomod Monatre.
Simplified single-speed drivetrain: Simplicity, lower maintenance, and pure riding feel.
New Wheels: New 26" black wheels and tan wall tires add a touch of style.
One-of-One Ridable Art
